Santa Barbara Exfoliation Treatments from Evolutions Medical and Day Spa

As our skin ages, the natural exfoliation process (older skin cells flaking off and being replaced by younger cells) begins to slow down. This, along with environmental damage, is why mature skin doesn’t look as fresh and bright as a child’s skin. It is possible, however, to “turn back the clock.”

Mechanical exfoliation (such as HydraFacial or microdermabrasion) and chemical exfoliation (i.e., chemical peels) speed up the natural cell turnover process and are extremely beneficial in both achieving and maintaining clear, healthy, youthful-looking skin.

Below is more information about the mechanical exfoliation treatments available at Evolutions:

DiamondTome Treatments remove the dead, outer layer of skin with the gentle exfoliation using a wand that contains natural diamond chips at its tip. The exfoliated skin cells are vacuumed away in a controlled manner. Removing this outer layer leaves a smoother texture and promotes the growth of healthy new skin.

Treatments are non-invasive, pain-free and require no downtime. To achieve maximum results, several sessions are recommended.

Frequently Asked Questions about Exfoliation Treatments

Exfoliation treatments are spa services that are designed to remove dead skin cells and promote the growth of new, healthy skin cells. These treatments can be performed on the face or body and can include physical exfoliation using scrubs or brushes, chemical exfoliation using alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) or beta-hydroxy acids (BHAs), or mechanical exfoliation using tools such as microdermabrasion machines.

Exfoliation treatments can benefit anyone looking to improve the appearance and texture of their skin. They can be especially beneficial for individuals with dry or rough skin, clogged pores, uneven skin tone, acne, or fine lines and wrinkles. Exfoliation treatments can also help to stimulate collagen production, which can improve the overall health and appearance of the skin.

Exfoliation treatments are generally safe when performed by a trained and licensed skincare professional. However, individuals with sensitive skin, active acne, or certain skin conditions may need to avoid certain types of exfoliation treatments or opt for gentler options. It is important to discuss any skin concerns or conditions with a skincare professional before undergoing an exfoliation treatment. It is also important to follow the aftercare instructions provided by the skincare professional to ensure optimal results and minimize any potential side effects.
