Dermal Fillers in Santa Barbara

As we age, the natural volume and fullness in our face diminishes. While we can exercise to help maintain our body’s physique, there is not an at-home (or at-the-gym) remedy for facial aging. Over-the-counter creams and serums may give a “temporary” lift but they cannot provide the structure that is needed for longer-lasting results.

Fortunately, dermal fillers can replace the volume and fullness that has been lost. In addition to volume replacement, fillers can be used to correct skin imperfections like wrinkles, acne scars, fine lines, and can also be used to enhance the fullness of the lips. Many of the fillers are comprised of hyaluronic acid (HA) that is a naturally-occurring substance found in the skin. HA helps deliver nutrients, retain moisture and softness, and adds volume to the skin. Dermal filler results are instantaneous and can last 6 months to a year or more!

Here is information about some of our more popular dermal fillers at Evolutions:

Restylane and Restylane LyftThese FDA-approved fillers can be used for correction of mid-face contour deficiencies and for treating moderate to severe facial wrinkles. They are comprised mostly of hyaluronic acid. They can last from 6 months to a year or more. In a clinical trial, patient satisfaction rate was 95.2% two months post treatment and 73% 12 months post treatment.

Juvederm
This HA filler is also FDA-approved and used to treat deficiencies in the cheeks in addition to lines and wrinkles. With optimal treatment, Juvederm has been proven to last one year in wrinkles and folds. When treated again after 1 year, patients needed less product to achieve their results.

Radiesse
This filler differs from Juvederm and Perlane because it is primarily comprised of Calcium Hydroxyapatite (CaHA) microspheres suspended in a gel carrier. When injected, Radiesse provides immediate volume and correction. It continues to work by stimulating the body to produce its own natural collagen. Over time, as the gel is absorbed and the body metabolizes the CaHA, your own natural collagen will be left behind. Radiesse is also FDA-approved.

Scultpra
If you are looking to replace lost collagen, Scupltra is a great option. The main ingredient of Sculptra is poly-L-lactic acid, a biocompatible, biodegradable synthetic material that has been used by physicians for decades. Unlike Radiesse, Perlane, and Juvederm, results are not instantaneous. You will see results gradually over 3 to 6 months and they typically last 2 years. An excellent option for those that don’t need immediate correction and are looking for longer lasting results.
