Evolutions Employee Spotlight: Polly Dursum, R.N.

What really makes Evolutions special is our wonderful employees. When we started Evolutions Medical Spa back in 2005 we had 5 employees. We are now up to 30! They are all great people and they work very hard everyday to make your experience with Evolutions the best it can be. Each month we are featuring two employees to let you know a little bit more about the people that make up the Evolutions team.

Meet Polly Dursum, R.N., our lead clinician!

Polly Dursum, Evolutions Medical and Day SpaPolly has worked at Evolutions for almost four years and has been the lead for the last two. She does an amazing job with treatments, training, and other administrative tasks.  She’s also studying to become a Nurse Practitioner.

What is the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had (prior to Evolutions)?

I traveled for two years around South East Asia and worked as an English teacher and piano teacher during my travels.

What do you like about working at Evolutions?

Evolutions is a family-owned business and that is one of the unique and best aspects of working here. Dr. Perkins is one of the kindest and most hardworking doctors I have ever worked with. His unwavering compassion and dedication to his patients sets the standard of patient care and our culture of care at Evolutions. I’ve always candidly joked that Dr. Perkins is Mr. Rogers meets Santa Claus! I’ve never worked in a place before that I truly enjoy and love working with everyone – both staff and my patients. The Perkins makes Evolutions an extension of their family and, as their staff, we make our patients and clients an extension of our Evolutions family.

What is your favorite aesthetic treatment to perform? Why?

Dermal Fillers! Even though I am an RN, I majored in music and piano performance in college and I am a classically trained pianist. I love the fine arts and any form of artistic expression. Dermal filler is the fusion of art and science and what makes aesthetic medicine truly an art. I like to compare dermal fillers to sculpting and painting. Every face has its intrinsic beauty and balance that requires respect. My job as an aesthetic nurse is to restore and bring that unique aspect to light. My patients often see me get excited when I do their dermal filler treatment!

What is your preferred treatment at Evolutions to have done?

Getting pampered in the day spa side. I’ve often called the Day Spa and the Medical Spa the “Ying and Yang” of Evolutions, respectively. My favorite treatment is the Deluxe Oxygen Facial and I recommend it often to my patients as a day spa treatment. It’s my “red carpet ready” facial and leaves your skin glowing, plump (even your lips!), and smooth for days.

What is your #1 home care product sold at Evolutions? Why?

I am going to pick two. I never travel without my Luzern Serum Absolut V15 (antioxidant Vit C serum complex) for morning application and NIA 24 Intensive Retinol Repair for evening application. I tell my patients Vitamin C serums “lightens, tightens, and brightens” and it’s my skin’s OJ in the morning. Retinols are great for your skin because they unclog pores, boost collagen to reduce fine lines, and speed cell turnover to even out discoloration and smooth skin. I particularly like the NIA retinol because it’s less irritating on my skin and not overly drying.

What is your favorite quote?

“Love is the bridge between you and everything.” – Rumi

What is something people would be surprised to know about you?

I’ve won a foosball championship. I’m awful at sports but for some reason undefeated in foosball (well, so far!).

What do you like to do in your free time?

I love to read, do yoga, listen to and play music, and hike.
