SKIN RESURFACING WITH FRACTIONAL CO2
Over time, our skin’s youthful appearance and texture is affected by cumulative effects of collagen and moisture loss, sun exposure, acne, and more. Skin resurfacing can greatly improve many skin conditions such as fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, and textural irregularities. Resurfacing also encourages new collagen and elastin production and can tighten the skin.
Many of our clients are interested in improving their skin through skin resurfacing. Evolutions now offers multiple procedures for skin resurfacing including Sublative Rejuvenation and another great procedure, Fractional CO2 resurfacing.

What kinds of Skin Rejuvenation and Skin Resurfacing Treatments are available?
Today there are four kinds of skin resurfacing and skin rejuvenating laser and light-based technologies.
- Traditional skin resurfacing ablates (removes) the complete surface of the skin.
- Non-ablative skin rejuvenation heats wide areas, but does not ablate the surface skin.
- Fractional skin rejuvenation does not ablate the skin but heats narrow and deep.
- Fractional skin resurfacing is the newest technology that uses a combination of ablation and heating in matrix dots across the skin with various levels of penetration.
Evolutions Medical Spa offers two types of fractional resurfacing, Sublative Rejuvenation and Fractional CO2 Resurfacing.
What is Fractional Skin Resurfacing?
Traditional ablative resurfacing heats and removes the complete surface of the skin resulting in a longer recovery period. Fractional technology reaches deep into the skin, but covers the skin area in a grid of tiny dots. The tissue surrounding the dots in uninjured, thus allowing for an accelerated healing process. The light energy penetrates into the dermal layer of skin, thus producing an effective treatment to improve color and texture — with significantly less recovery time than traditional C02 full ablative laser resurfacing.
What does Fractional Resurfacing Treat?
- Acne scarring
- Other scarring
- Superficial skin lesions
- Textural irregularities
- Skin laxity
Why Fractional CO2 Resurfacing?
As explained above, Fractional CO2 Resurfacing can deliver columns of energy deep into the skin in a customizable grid pattern. This process stimulates the body’s natural healing response to improve skin tone, texture, and color. Because the laser beam has been fractionized, the healing process is accelerated and downtime is decreased.
The advanced Cortex laser that is used at Evolutions is designed to give your treating clinician a wide variety of control over the depth and intensity of the procedure. This will ensure that you get the results you desire.

Does it hurt? What is the downtime?
Though there is some discomfort with the treatment, we minimize it with the application of a physician strength topical numbing cream 60 minutes prior to treatment. We are also able to provide clients with a Xanax to help relax them during the procedure.
It typically takes 4-5 days to be able to apply make-up to the treated area.
How much does it cost?
Treatment costs vary depending on areas treated and whether it is a Fractional CO2 Resurfacing treatment alone or a combination procedure.
