Employee Spotlight: Brittney Meyer, Aesthetician

What really makes Evolutions special is our wonderful employees. When we started Evolutions Medical Spa back in 2005 we had 5 employees.  We are now up to 30! They are all great people and they work very hard everyday to make your experience with Evolutions the best it can be. Each month we are featuring two employees to let you know a little bit more about the people that make up the Evolutions’ team.

Employee Spotlight: Brittney Meyer, AestheticianEmployee Spotlight – Brittney Meyer, Aesthetician

Brittney has been working with Evolutions for about a year and a half.  Her prior experience was at Burke Williams in LA and at Sephora. One of the best things about Brittney is that she is always looking to improve herself.  In addition to being an excellent aesthetician, Brittney is also in the process of earning her Massage Therapist license (so the hand/arm/facial massage that she gives in her facial treatments is superb!)

What is the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had (prior to Evolutions)? When I first moved to Los Angeles, I needed a job quickly so I started working for a company that did catering for movie sets/photoshoots.  I drove all across LA, sometimes getting to sets before sunrise to set up meals. I got to see a lot of comedians on set like Seth Rogan, Michael Cera, Timothy Meadows, Will Forte, etc.  It was funny because I had not been in LA for even a month and I was already working on sets with all of these people I had watched in movies and on television. People back home always ask if I’ve seen anyone famous (which is silly), but I could always say I had seen someone new!

What do you like about working at Evolutions? My favorite part about working at Evolutions is the people.  The team genuinely cares about one another and I love that we get the opportunity to spend time outside of work with events too.  Our clients are also so fantastic! It is such a pleasure to come to work every day.

What is your favorite treatment to perform?  Why? The Deluxe Oxygen Facial.  Most people in Southern California have skin that is pretty dehydrated on the surface level.  This facial plumps up the skin with different weights of hyaluronic acid to boost moisture and superficial fine lines.

What is your preferred treatment at Evolutions to have done? The Salt Stone Glow is amazing!  Being an Aesthetician, I am all about exfoliation!  With this treatment your body gets exfoliated and then massaged by warm stones.

What is your #1 home care product sold at Evolutions?  Why? Tizo SPF, hands down!  It’s so hard to pick just 1 home care product, but I used this product years before I came to Evolutions.  The reason many folks forego sunscreen is because they can’t find a formula that isn’t too chalky or greasy and Tizo is creamy matte and a dream!!

What is your favorite quote / mantra / words of wisdom? The poem Wild Geese by Mary Oliver:

You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
For a hundred miles through the desert, repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about your despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting —
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.

What is something people would be surprised to know about you? I love to scuba dive!  I am Master certified (Naui), but it’s been awhile since I’ve done it.

What do like to do in your free time? I love to go to the beach, hike, and watch movies.
