RADIESSE Dermal Filler at Santa Barbara Medical Spa’s “Injectable Week”

Evolutions Medical Spa‘s most popular event of the year is just around the corner! Injectable Week features “once a year” specials on all our injectables including Botox, Dysport, Perlane, Restylane, Juvederm, and Radiesse. Botox and Dysport relax muscles in the forehead region to smooth wrinkles while dermal fillers “fill” crevices, wrinkles, fine lines, and folds.  A common place to use a filler is in the nasolabial lines that are present from the nose to the corners of the mouth (see the before and after picture below) however fillers can be used anywhere that your face is lacking volume.

RADIESSE Before-and-After
RADIESSE used to fill the nasolabial lines.

There are dermal fillers made with hyaluronic acid molecules that attract water to the area filled which results in a restoration of facial volume. These fillers are Perlane, Restylane, and Juvederm and they commonly last six months or more (depending on the person). Our clients who have used these fillers before have been very satisfied with their results.  There is another filler, RADIESSE, that we wanted to highlight because it has an added benefit that hyaluronic acid fillers do not have – Radiesse can stimulate the production of your own collagen (and has been clinically proven to do so)!

RADIESSE is an FDA-approved injectable filler that is composed of calcium-based microspheres. It acts as a scaffolding under the skin to provide instantaneous lift and fullness while stimulating your body’s own collagen production so that your skin looks better over time. In addition to the collagen production, Radiesse has been clinically proven to last a year or more in clients. Radiesse can be a very affordable wrinkle correction option because the time between touch-ups is longer and you may need less product on subsequent treatments. For instance, if you need 2 syringes of Radiesse at the initial treatment for full correction, you may need only 1 syringe on a follow-up treatment, which could take place one or one and half years later.

A Radiesse treatment is relatively short and comfortable. Radiesse is FDA approved to be mixed with an anesthetic (lidocaine) to significantly improve your comfort level during the procedure. There is no downtime after a Radiesse treatment although exercising after the treatment is not recommended (normal exercise can be resumed the next day). Swelling or bruising may occur and can be treated with an ice pack. Some people do not experience any swelling or bruising.

Popular treatment areas are shown below but Radiesse can be used in many other places, as determined by you and your clinician:
